Pre-Bathurst Run and Meeting – Sunday 12th October 2008
By Lawrie Isaacs and Lyn Cobb
Our day started from the designated meeting place - Centenary Pool on Gregory Terrace. Ray Nichols wasn’t able to participate in the run, but he came along to introduce us (as new and hopeful applicants) to other club members: V8 Tom and Lynn, Greg and Christine (our rally coordinators) and Clive and Lee (who drove in the driveway marked ‘exit only’!).
So with stout hearts and rain clouds looming, the intrepid ‘8’ set off northbound towards our morning tea destination – the Dayboro bakery. “Raindrops are falling on my head”! - Lynn came so close to using her umbrella while we were stopped at traffic lights, but morgan-sense prevailed. As we journeyed past Closeburn, V8 Tom received the starter’s flag from Greg and left all the meek and mild 4/4s in a cloud of dust “wishing and hoping” that we could have one of those too!

Day out at Silverstone
Written by Dave Taylor, UK
Hi all, sent Tom ‘home’ a happy man!
The day started out with a clear sky, but threatening, we headed south for the ‘brighter sky’ (top down) which was OK for about 40 miles when we hit a storm which we both decided was worthy of ‘top up’. Done in less than a minute (but still soaked) we pressed on to Silverstone. Mooched around the pits and found the Morgan area, lots of Mogs (pics attached) and then onto the Bentley area where we found both old and new (again pics attached).

Enjoyed the races from a half empty Grandstand near to the finish line, and then made our way back to the Techniques area where Andy Garlick made a splendid job of presenting the trophies to the various winners.

Christmas in July - Montville
Written by Lee Boyle
By Definition (Wikipedia)
Bling-bling (or simply bling) is a slang term in hip hop culture that refers to flashy or elaborate jewellery and ornamented accessories (carried, worn, or installed), such as cell phones or tooth caps….(or Morgan cars)
Bling was the word of the Christmas in July week end held at Montville on the 18th -20th July
Having arrived at the Montville Mountain Inn Friday late afternoon we ascertained we were in the correct place, there were already two other Morgans parked, then took the opportunity to check out the shops and maybe have a coffee. It seems that coffee shops at Montville close late afternoon, when you see the week end hoards one can understand why they feel the urge to get away early. After the obligatory walk up & down the street we headed to the balcony to watch the sunset.

In the 8th month of 2008 I became a member of Morgan Owners Queensland (Inc) and only a couple of hours later found I had already been given a task to complete (I think there might be a lesson to be learned here). The task was for me to write a small piece about the very pleasant day that Tony and I and 9 other MOQ members spent Morganing to and from and in and around Beaudesert. Now, as some of you know, Tony and myself are from the deep south of the country, so nearly everywhere we visit around these parts is a new experience and Beaudesert and its surrounds were no exception. In fact, Beaudesert was definitely on my list of places to see as, apart from signs to Ipswich and Gympie, I think there are more signs in and around Brisbane pointing the way to Beaudesert than to any other place. This, according to my logic, meant it must be a place of some importance and I was therefore very pleased to be able to participate in the 8 hours of driving and feasting that constituted the Beaudesert Run.
